Who we are

Companion is a parenting support tool that helps families navigate the disability and developmental support system in Australia.

What we collect

  • Account information: your name and email address
  • Child profile information you choose to provide (name, birth year, support needs, strengths)
  • Conversation content from your chat sessions
  • Session and authentication cookies required for the app to function
  • Server-side usage telemetry (request metadata, model usage) via Vercel

How we use it

  • To provide personalised parenting support through the AI chat experience
  • To save and recall your child's profile across sessions
  • To improve the service and monitor for safety issues

Third-party processors

  • Supabase — authentication and database storage
  • Anthropic (via Vercel AI Gateway) — your messages are processed by Anthropic's Claude to generate responses. We do not use your messages to train AI models.
  • Deepgram — voice transcription (when you use the microphone feature)
  • Vercel — hosting, infrastructure, and usage telemetry

Data retention

Conversation history is retained for 12 months from the date of each conversation. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from Account settings.

Your rights

Under the Australian Privacy Act 1988, you have the right to access, correct, and request deletion of your personal information. To exercise these rights, delete your account from Account settings or contact us at privacy@companion.app.
